Frankie Beverly passed away a couple days ago, I've been otherwise involved in some family issues

Or I would have posted a goodbye post already.

Mr. Beverly owned an all-time R&B voice and Maze was as tight a band as you could ever hope to front

If you don't know this one, I question if you've ever been to a cookout

A couple years ago, there was an online survey that set out to find the person who was the most famous in the black community while being practically unknown in the white community.

Frankie Beverly won.

I had to laugh - but when I would bring it up to my friends the black folks just nodded, and the white folks all asked who Frankie Beverly was.

I usually look for deep cuts and obscure performances when I build these threads, but it's all Maze greatest hits today

Rest in peace Frankie. I wish my wife, and I had seen you on the farewell tour when you hit St Louis a few months back
