EDITING to link to and excerpt a Classic Rock magazine article about them from 2021, which did not show up in search when I was looking for articles about them earlier today (search engines are getting more messed up with AI).

Classic Rock gave Mojothunder's self-released debut album Hymns From The Electric Church a 9/10 score, and their southern alternative sound is on the rise
Its no fun waitin around to become a millionaire. Just ask the pride of Lexington Kentucky, Mojothunder. Their just-released debut album, Hymns From The Electric Church, is a stunner; a sun-dappled potpourri of everything good and true about American rocknroll, from crunching hard rock to soulful blues, from breezy cosmic Americana to head-bopping summertime arena-rock anthems.
In a normal world, theyd be on the road, clawing their way to the top, clocking up miles on endless highways, seeing a million faces and rocking them all. Instead theyre on a Zoom call with Classic Rock, riding out the hopefully final days of the pandemic.

Indeed, and the proof is in the pudding. From hard-charging riffnrollers like Jack Axe to soaring southern-fried classic rock like Fill Me Up, Hymns is the feelgood album weve all been collectively craving.

The reason we went with southern alternative is because we didnt want to get stuck as a hard rock band, says Willoughby, like just a band doing a throwback style. We figured throwing in the alternative would get people to at least check it out to see what that meant. Were not indie, were not hard rock, we just like to make good music and we have our way of doing it.

In those days, ut wasn't what I was listening to, but I got why he liked them.

(69,656 posts)Dave Bickler had a bit clearer & higher timbre voice, but when Peterik was the main songwriter their stuff resembled this.
Their sound changed when Sullivan started writing more of the songs and Jim P become more an arranger/co-oroducer.
