Any quilters use an AccuQuilt fabric cutter?

I was given an AccuQuilt Go. It is the type with the hand crank. I am going to try it out this week on some practice fabric. Any suggestions?

If you have one, do you like it and do you use it often?

design dies available. And it becomes just something else to move out of the way on the cutting table. For blocks that use rounded piecing, like drunkard's path its pretty handy, but if I am cutting straight sided pieces a rotary cutter is plenty fast enough. I imagine paper piecers like it because you can accurately cut the fabric before applying fabric, but I think its easier to cut the fabric after applying the backer.

The major consideration for me is buying dies for one of projects. My wife pretty much agrees with me. We wanted one but the price is high and the benefit limited but if someone gave me one, I'd sure take it.

I dye quilting fabric and I've thought about kits and it would be handy for that.

2. I've struggled with mine

I tried using mine for cutting the pieces of a block of the month quilt once. It seemed to work great, but when I went to sew the half-square triangle pieces together, sometimes they were off by 1/8” or more.

I read that you need to be extra careful with grain lines. Mine was a gift, so I admit to not investing the time to learning the proper way to use it. I am pretty set in my ways, so I’m not the target market for it.

With that said, it’s easier to use than a rotary cutter and ruler for people with arthritis or when stability is a concern. I imagine it would be wonderful for curved pieces.

Try cutting only one layer at a time at first, then measure the pieces to see if it cut them correctly. Make sure you use the mats on top of the dies.

A lot of people love them, and they seem like they are made by a good company, so your experience may be better than mine.
