Related: About this forumI've finished 2 crocheted blankets thus far
One more is only a few hours away... so three.
One is black and scraps. One is black w/ colorful trim. One is black, white and gray. All are granny squares.
Going to give them to Al's kids for Christmas.
I have one more to make and 38 days to make it. I'm pretty sure I can do it. My hands fight me sometimes (pain or numbness), but the projects keep my mind in a good state, and finishing them gives me a sense of accomplishment.
I'd like to think that the gifts will be enjoyed and appreciated, so I don't have to feel guilty about my "therapy" isn't just convenient.
I will post pictures soon.

(7,947 posts)I am sitting here with an afghan on my lap, which was given to me when I was undergoing immunotherapy IV infusions in an infusion ward at the hospital. Some nice lady came through with an armload of crocheted afghans, and I got one that is yellow and blue. Here it is, 6 years later, and it's still on my couch! I wish I'd been able to thank her, but instead, I'll thank YOU.
It's a gift that lasts a very long time. Longer than the disease even, and isn't that wonderful!

(22,652 posts)I have recently taken up crochet after a very long hiatus from doing it. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it.
I find it very relaxing and tranquilizing in these trying times.
I can listen to a podcast, or watch TV with my husband while working on something.
I had to re teach myself how to do the basic stitches and did a whole bunch of swatches to get my edges straight. I have done two large blankets using granny stitch.
I may go get some cheap yarn and make squares using different stiches - I never knew there were so many variations!!! I do know I definitely need a new project soon .

(22,652 posts)I am trying to learn a chevron granny stitch; my sister in law likes the chevron, and I wanted to use something besides single crochet. If I can't get the granny style to work I will go to a half double or double pattern.
I have some cheap ombre yarn to practice with before I tackle the actual blanket with the cake yarn. This will be my third one with Bernat POP! I get emails from Amazon when they put it on sale; it is very soft and easy to work with.
