I made this portrait of my niece Erin way back when. Acrylic on canvas block. I made another of my niece Elizabeth, but I can't find the image. My sister Kat still has them, so I'll ask her for a pic.
Erin is now a Blackhawk pilot, stationed overseas right now.

(2,067 posts)She is very smart, and like her mother, scored so high in testing that she got to choose what she wanted to do. And she is very beautiful all grown up!
Her mom went to the DLI, then became an ATC like my Dad, and ended up working for the FAA, then the State Department nabbed her as she's fluent in Arabic. She also has a Doctorate and is pursuing a legal degree, my sister is.
I remember when Erin was 19 and came to my house to tell me she was joining the Navy and wanted my blessing - of course I blessed her in whatever she chose to do!
I just have a compulsion to create, which is funny since I have so many vision problems. And now, my hands don't work so well, but still, I persist!
Thanks again for your very kind words!

(18,570 posts)I mostly paint pets, but Ive tried a few portraits and only one came out pretty well due to an inordinate amount of feedback and direction from my teacher. On the other hand Ive been able to improve my pet painting over the last few years since I took up painting. Here is my latest.

(2,067 posts)I love this!!! Excellent job!
Yes, do a person - I'm here to help if you need it, but I think you already know what to do. Just fill up the page, blocking out the shapes, and refine.
I love to sketch them out in purple washes, laying down the shapes and lines.

(2,067 posts)I'm the 7th of 8 in a military family - AF. Kat's the third of 8. 3 went into the military. They never would have taken me as I had eye problems too severe to serve at that time. And I would never want to. I'm pretty much a pacifist.

(2,067 posts)I have my oils all set up and ready...but am detailing out the dragon, raven, and finishing up Panthera - I procrastinate as once I'm finished I have to ship her off. The collector's been waiting for quite a while.
