Hot this week.
Everything and anything Christmas. Dealers have it covered with way more than anyone can buy.
Industrial, lights and other fixtures from early 20th century factories and such. Lots of hardcover books.
Furniture, big and small tables with a few chest and desk.
Seems a little slow on week days with big week ends. A look back at last year sales and it's about even.
Dealers are saying auction prices have gone up in the last few weeks.

(50,939 posts)"Smalls," in general, seem hot in the northeast . . . stocking stuffers. I always have good luck with small tables. A dealer once told me if you paint anything make it green and it will sell. She was right. Colonial green. I'm starting to hate that color.

(1,157 posts)I recently learned that anything owls seems to be interesting. We picked up some cheap little owl figurines and they didn't last a week.
Other than that, vinyl records continue strong, and we have sold two fur coats in the past week. We've sold some Christmas stuff but not a lot. Then again, we don't really have a lot.
We too are seeing exceedingly slow weeks and much stronger weekends. Drives us crazy but as long as it comes in some way or other, we'll take it.
Thanks for keeping this group going!

(50,130 posts)This trend has been evident for a few years here in pacific northwest. Big, little, ceramic, macrame, decoupage, all very popular owls.
Beware, though, lots of reproductions are being made of the retro owl items.

(16,038 posts)especially the scarce and rare items..I've had good luck with mid century Christmas lights, liquid filled lights, and early nativities. Some of the Hallmark limited production ornaments have a good year round following. I suspect now is the time to sell the more common Christmas items, non-collectors are decorating their homes while in the Christmas spirit.
I believe prices and bidding have increased dramatically over the past year. My method isn't scientific. I bid with esnipe, for several years my ratio of wins/losses has been about 50/50 or better. Over the last year I have seen that fall to around 30/70 (70% no-wins). It seems items are getting more bidders than previously too. Of coarse the sample is only good on my areas of interest.
