I understood it being there for Halloween, complete with black robe and scythe. For Thanksgiving, he transitioned to a Pilgrim hat. By xmas, he was wearing a Santa hat and pants. Apparently just taking off the hat, and keeping the red pants, made him in style for Valentines Day.

I drove past there yesterday, and he is carrying a basket of eggs. When will this madness end? No--don't ask. I am afraid to stop and take pictures.

My Mom had to take down her curtains for offending the authorities' sense of "decorum". She was told she was a vain and show-offy person - simply for not going along with the white lace curtains of the herd. Just dress it up for Christmas, New Year's, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Fourth of July and so on. In months that there isn't anything going on, just put a bathing suit and a sun hat on it.

I also live in Buffalo and sometimes we can get some hellacious wind storms. Our last wind storm the gusts got up to 75 mph. My neighbor got a green house last summer and the wind pretty much destroyed it over the winter. Those skeletons aren't cheap and I'd be worried about wind storms knocking it into the next neighborhood.

13. We have a home like that in our area

They put up the 12 foot plastic skeleton about 4 or 5 years ago. They live across the street from a stip mall. There's a family with a special needs child that was non verbal. I believe he was about 5 years old at the time. The mother reported to the local news station that her child had spoken for the first time in his life when he saw that skeleton. Turn around mom, turn around!

She parked in the strip mall lot across the street and cried as her son laughed and talked about how much he loved that skeleton.

The neighbor for the last 5 years has decorated that skeleton for every holiday and the whole neighborhood love it.

Sometimes there are reasons for things that we may not always understand.

My sister had a colleague who decorated her office door with a skeleton for Halloween, and another worker complained that it was "satanic". The response? Pilgrim hat for Thanksgiving, Santa hat for Xmas, hearts for Valentine's Day, etc etc.

My neighbor puts this up every year. It has glowing eyes. From the moment he appears before Halloween, my cat is hanging next to him every day. In this pic, look at the little orange ball at the skeleton's feet.



Now it is true there is a good NYC skyline view, but I think he just loves his friend. Or maybe it's a good place to spot mice?

When he is deconstructed and put inside after Halloween, Oliver is distraught. He lies down behind my car tire in the leaves. I have to be very careful not to aid his suicidal ideation.
