One of my favorite little joys of this Olympics- Terry Gannon

He was the point guard on Jimmy Valvano’s improbable 1983 National Championship NC State college basketball team. I watched a lot of ACC basketball back then.

Gannon calls lots of sports including golf but being the lead “play by play” announcer on figure skating is a big deal. Easily the most watched Olympic sport every four years. Every time skating came on I’d say “Look it Terry Gannon!” It became a running respectful joke in my house.

He was nothing flashy on the State team. Coaches son.
He looks remarkably the same as 43 years ago.

Lots of elements in this picture especially the player on the right side of the pic.

He has aged pretty well and he has also developed into a fairly strong commentator on the figure skating with the help of others such as Dick Button, Peggy Fleming, Tara Lipinski, and Johnny Weir.
