Does anyone else think all the screwable bottle tops are slimmer then they used to be??

I swear I have a horrible time trying to open them. Granted I’m old and my thumbs are shot, don’t work as well as they used to, but damn. I do have bottle and jar hand openers, but sheesh I do a lot of swearing trying to open them. Is it just me?? I think companies are making them skinnier to save money.

While it's probably cheaper per cap, there had to be capital involved in recalibration of the capping machines to handle the lower weight, lower tensile strength caps. So, the savings is probably small for the first 2 or 3 years
The plus size is that almost no bottle caps are actually recycled into new products, it reduces the total tonnage of plastic used. And, that is a good thing.

I tried cutting with sharp knives, tapping with hammers, toothed scissors, pliers, all kinds of things. Finally realized they were plastic so I ran them under hot, hot tap water for a few minutes and they opened like Melania's knees...easy peasy!
