Do you write murder mysteries? To me, this passage sounds just like you. I love reading your stories.

"I throw off the covers and rush out into the hall before the laughing nurse makes me realize that I'm in my underwear. I go back to the room and put on pants, since the last thing I need is a floorful of sexually aroused nurses, ogling me." (from New Tricks, recommended by SheltieLover)

I'm happy to read that you enjoy my stories, and I enjoy your posts as well.

I never thought I was a good, or even decent writer.

When I worked, I was a finance guy, and a proposal guy...cost proposals presented to the Government.

Even those these proposals contained tens of thousands of pages of cost analyses, they also contained a LOT of verbiage. introductory and explanatory material, scope of work explanations, etc.

Some of the higher-ups took notice of what they perceived to be my writing abilities, so I was also tasked with writing up this stuff, in addition to crunching the numbers.

I've always felt like an imposter when people would tell me how well I could write...I just don't see it in myself. I've always been told "You can get a point across in very few words". Again, I don't see it. When I TRY to write something profound, I don't think it ever comes out very good. But when I just write what I'm feeling, it might come out a little better, I don't know.

I'll tell you what...I appreciate that you like the Grateful Dead. A lot of people don't. They don't hear what we hear.

There are two sayings that I use when trying to explain the Dead to non-deadheads...

1) Miles Davis, who respected the Dead greatly, said that they were the best jazz band in the world, who just happened to play rock music.

2) It has been said that to love the Grateful Dead, you have to put on your "Dog Ears". Meaning, you have to LISTEN. And then it hits you...Holy shit! This is amazing! What kind of music is this???

So, what I am trying to say via my rambling words here, is that Deadheads "know" each other and have the same thought processes, even though we may not actually "know" each other.

I hope you have a beautiful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
