Friday Night Vodka Buzz. Ask me anything.

Two shots to get the party started. Now, a Ward Eight. A cocktail classic. Bourbon, lemon juice, orange juice, and a dash of grenadine. Yummy!

I start my new job on Monday. Undying love to everyone who has been with me since losing my previous job. Since September, it’s been equal parts relaxing time off, stressful job hunting, stressful continuing education hours-accumulating, and stressful new-job on-boarding.

Plus, we have a difficult four years ahead of us. We must be there for each other.

I love you all…

4. More Americans are racist misogynists than are willing to admit it.

And that’s it. But she was a black woman. That was a bridge too far for many people whose self-image may not have included racist misogyny.

Twice now, immensely well-qualified women have lost an election to a blisteringly incompetent blockheaded moron. So it is irrefutable that a plurality of Americans would prefer to be governed by an idiot than an intelligent woman.

2. Is there enough booze to get us thru these next 4 years?

My own answer - probably not. Those of us who do not choose to or have to abstain, for whatever our personal reasons ight be, would all have cirrhosis of our livers by then if that's how we'd choose to cope.

risking cirrhosis and death, or staying sober and outliving It, I would choose the latter. But with nothing certain but death and taxes, I will have my regular drinks, and hope for the best.

At best, I have maybe 2 glasses of wine a month and have no plans to increase that. I'm just grumbling tonight.

It hasn't even been a week and it feels like forever already. Gonna be a long damn 4 years.

Vodka, cranberry juice and peach schnapps. Do you know the answer and have you had one?

Happy you'll get started and hope you enjoy the new spot

No. I’ve never had one. I don’t keep cranberry juice or peach schnapps on hand.

I’d be willing to give it a try, and if a host offered me one, I would accept out of more than politeness.

Which do you find more interesting: the discovery of the spa in Pompeii, or the Roman army horse station in England?

The mile castle fort along Hadrian’s Wall.

They found wood slabs there that bore an engraved letter from the wife of a high-ranking officer to her friend. The text was so human, so down-to-Earth, so relatable. It was endearing to read about normal average, every-day people from thousands of years ago.

I would love to sic you on the doctor-manager who made my life hell at my last job. I don’t want ambitious micro-managers screwing up my workday. I just want to practice clinical medicine in peace.

Keep her on the list. She was not a nice person.

She was the kind of person who knows that no one climbing the ladder ever slipped off because they stepped on someone’s fingers on the way up.

I have no ambitions beyond providing good medical care for my patients. So I have no patience for ruthless ladder-climbers.

I often wonder about my long-ago ancestors. Not just what they might have looked like, but what their lives were like, and were they happy to be alive.
