In the Brooklyn neighborhood aroind 20+ yrs ago I lived in I saw some lovely pure breeds. Mixes can be just as interesting, and lovely, too.
There was a lovely, well-groomed Samoyed I'd often see.
Someone else had a beautiful "teenage" black & white Husky. It was too slender, and shorter, I think, to be fully grow,. Occasionally, when approaching in the other direction, I'd catch a glimpse of their beautiful blue eyes.
A one time glance in my sister's work neighborhood as we occasionally met for lunch, or I'd visit her office... we saw someone walking their daschund puppy. Finally when they were far enough away, we let out our giggles. So adorable.
My best encounter was waiting around the laundrymat near the door. Comfortable weather the door was open. Someone passed by walking their unleashed small dog; white, medium semi-curled fur. It looked towards the door, and we "locked" eyes.
It came running towards me, stopped right in front of me, and rolled over on It's belly. I slowly bent down, let it sniff my hand, then gave it some belly rubs, and got a few little licks back. Then it rolled over to stand up, and ran back to it's human.
As I type this I feel the corners of my mouth tug into a smile. Such a sweet memory.
I enjoy animals, but never wanted the responsibility of caring for one (or more! 😄 ). I do appreciate people who love, and care well for theirs!
(Plants are more my speed. I got a part green thumb from my mom's mom. I've kept a bunch. Each one often for years. Gave many angel wing begonias cuttings away!)
What memorable doggos have you seen, and encountered?

We have a wonderful off leash park nearby with a wide creek running through it. It is un encumbered by fencing & completely open.
Most of the dogs are regulars there.
When we visit with our 130# German Shepherd, Con, we sometimes run into a tiny Yorkie named Eno.
Eno always greets Con walking upright on his hind legs 😂. It seems to be his best position for sniffing Con. Its hilarious! I must get a picture of this.

(5,692 posts)I used to baby sit for two yorkies.
When they would come in from being outside in the rain they would rub themselves dry on my white couches 😩.

(6,347 posts)a Great Dane. It's kind of funny because the dog is almost as tall as her!
