I hadn't seen it for years and it became known as a banal love story, a "weeper," with no redeeming virtues, especially with the line "Love means never having to say you're sorry." And the old class difference with Harvard and the Ivy League.
But I found it a fairly good movie. The script was awful, IMHO, but the feeling I had after the film was over was that it accomplished what it had set out to do: connect with the audience. Altho poor Ali McGraw, having that famous line, really did herself no favors, I got it in the context of the entire movie. Ray Milland, playing her father, was especially good, I thought.
Anyway, my 2 cents after seeing this movie. YMMV, of course.
Tell me your thoughts...
