Grocery shopping got political apparently

I had to run down to the local city on my lunch hour to drop some mail off at the post office. I ran over to the grocery store afterward for just a couple of items. This store is located a block from the post office in one direction and a block from city hall in the other direction.
While I was walking around getting the items I needed, I heard the someone making an announcement over the intercom. They wanted all of us shoppers to know that it was $5 Friday and then listed all of the items in the deli that were on that sale, then followed up with:
“I’m not lying! I’m not a government worker so I’m not lying to you!” Then they blathered on a bit more about other $5 specials.
Did I complain? Yes, yes I did. I worked for that company once upon a time when I was younger and there is no way that I wouldn’t have gotten in serious trouble for calling a segment of society “liars”.
