(12,268 posts)or their white fluffy angel cream ones. You always gambled when ordering an angel cream. Sometimes it was filled with the fluffy vanilla filling or it could be filled with the pudding-like eclair filling. They changed their darned menu around here and you cant get anything from the old menu now, and nothing thats not iced, glazed, or both.
My very fav of all time was Mister Donuts black raspberry filled, but I dont think Mister Donut even exists any more.
My future DIL makes grape-filled donuts for her aunts bday every year. Maybe I can get her to give me a couple of empties that I can put some black raspberry filling in!

(40,073 posts)filled. . It sounds like a good idea to have your future MIL leave you some empties so you can fill up with the black raspberry . Enjoy.

(5,246 posts)but in my younger days, a raspberry-filled, iced jelly doughnut was my favorite. My favorite eventually became an apple fritter due to the fare offered at a mom-and-pop shop that I lived near. I miss those days, and definitely miss the carbs and fat

(2,347 posts)Krispy Kreme is the definition of a doughnut, in my humble opinion. If it isn't a Krispy Kreme, it isn't a doughnut. By definition.

(5,794 posts)But my go-to donut is Kroger glazed when on sale. Regularly $6.99 a dozen, this week on sale for $4 a dozen (limit 5), with card and digital coupon active. I'll probably buy two dozen because that's the limit I can eat before they get too dry. Two on a paper plate, 30 seconds in the microwave, and I can have my prescriptions early in the day.

If it has to have something on it, a dusting of cinnamon/sugar.

(36,129 posts)But there's a cider mill about 20 minutes north of me that makes really good sour cream donuts, and one of them goes great with a cup of freshly squeezed apple cider. Other than that, I'll pass.

debm55
(40,073 posts)My current favorite is an Apple Fritter with glaze. It has a little crunch on the outside and an apple, sugar, and cinnamon flavor on the inside.
My favorite used to be a chocolate dough bismark filled with puffy chocolate cream and topped with old-fashioned chocolate frosting(with enough sugar in it so that you could feel the grains of sugar as you ate it). Alas, The Bakery that made them went out of business, and no one has picked up on the recipe.
Life can be rough.

Maple ones sound Yumny! Hmmm...I think I actually went to the first Tim Horton's that opened in NYC a bunch of years back to have some.

(8,863 posts)my favorite was Dunkin Blueberry Crumble. My preference for Dunkin in general makes me a bit of an outlier here in Georgia, where most people seem to go for Krispy Kreme.
