Well, here goes. I'm at the Dr office and ready to head in. I want to say a huge thank you to you all as I read your kind wishes throughout the day yesterday as my anxiety would build up. Your words were medicine to me, and I'm sorry I haven't been able to thank each of you but please be assured that I'm blanketed by your words, thoughts and energies. Thanks to all of you again and I'll update later today when I get home.
I love you all,
John
I'm going in to meet the Cardiac Surgeon tomorrow morning. I know the news is going to be bad in the sense that I have multiple arterial blockages. I'm just praying there isn't anything worse.
I've been really anxious about this appointment since before Christmas and now it's almost here.
Thank you all for the amazing support and love you keep showing me. It's kept my mind from going to some really dark places as fear goes.
I will post an update as soon as I'm able tomorrow.
Love,
John

You will too!
Fear is understandable. I would be full of fear, but you will get this taken care of and be able to continue your life.

(9,157 posts)I had a triple bypass 6 years ago and I am as good as new. I never knew I had a heart issue until my physician saw a new blip on an EKG. I never had any symptoms. They did test and found I had one artery 100% blocked and two 80% blocked. Turns out I had corollaries (I had to find that out on my own because the Docs won't tell you about that. Once I mentioned it they confirmed) which means my body created a bunch of small arteries that went around the blockages. My cardiologist said, once I mentioned the corollaries, that I may or may not have an issue. Well, I'm a wildlife photographer and I thought that if I did have an issue I might be a mile back in the woods and it would be weeks before anyone found me. I decided to have the surgery and couple weeks after getting home I was back out with the camera. LOL... my Doctors were not pleased but both said my recovery was off the charts.
Good luck. All will be good.

(967 posts)My mom has a heart attack at 43. Now days they can do so much with little fanfare. The doctors do so many of these surgeries they could do then with their eyes closed. I wish you a speedy recovery. Try to keep the dark away with light. Catch yourself self talking negative and tell the thought to be gone. You get to control what you think.

(1,790 posts)Father, please grant courage and peace that passes understanding. Be in the midst of this medical situation. Let the prognosis be within the parameters of medical abilities to repair. Then, we ask that You heal as only You can. We ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

(73 posts)I don't know if you're Christian, but here is my prayer for you. From the Book of Common Prayer of the Episcopal Church:
Almighty God our Heavenly Father, graciously comfort your servant John in his suffering and bless the means made use of for his cure. Fill his heart with confidence that, though at times he may be afraid, he yet may put his trust in you, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

(4,156 posts)The patient asked. Can I get a second opinion? The doctor told him he might not live until a second opinion. He went to the hospital and they did 3 bypasses. Hes fine now.
I understand its a scary procedure, but they do them all over the country every day.
Hoping for good news for you.

(39,082 posts)Be hopeful. Know that you're in good hands. Heart surgery is the most common and successful of surgeries. Compared to many other major surgeries, heart surgery, particularly coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), generally exceeding a 90% success rate with significantly improved survival rates for patients with severe coronary artery disease.
You're going to be okay. Stay peaceful. Sleep well.
