And...I may lose it Traditional Medicare

I'm supposed to have a tooth extracted that has either a cyst or abscess with possible sinus involvement. I'm having it as outpatient in a hospital. Traditional Medicare may not cover the cost. An oral surgeon will be doing it. Its not cosmetic. I'm on antibiotic in case its an abscess.

From what I'm reading. Anyone experience something like this, and was it covered?

That last part might give you some hope.

Medicare generally does not cover tooth extractions or other routine dental care. However, there are some exceptions:
Inpatient hospital services
Medicare may cover dental services that are part of an inpatient hospital stay. This can include:
A tooth extraction to treat a mouth infection before cancer treatment
A dental procedure to prepare the jaw for radiation treatment
A dental exam before a transplant surgery
Hospitalization for a simple dental procedure if it's recommended for the patient's safety
Medically necessary dental services
Medicare may cover dental services that are medically necessary and improve the patient's overall health. This includes services that are directly related to other covered medical treatments.

I can't empathize because I don't have those kinds of issues, but I sure sympathize.

They’ll usually cover dental if it’s something that’s detrimental to your health.

If that happens, go to the ER immediately. You don’t want to mess with sepsis. Not trying to scare you but my brother had a dental cyst go septic. He caught it early and they started IV antibiotics, drained the cyst and he was ok.
