The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI have two cars that I am going to get detailed.
I live near a bunch of trees, so the cars get crapped up pretty good. Plus, the cars have been used to transport rescued dogs. They need a good detailing that I don't want to do myself.
I've been pricing local car detailers, and the prices are very cost prohibitive for what I want done.
So I called my mechanic, and asked the service advisor if she could recommend someone. She gave me a guy's name, and I went to visit him this morning.
The guy was working on a couple of cars when I got there, and his work is STUNNING. Really really beautiful work. The older model vehicles he was working on looked showroom new.
I asked him for a quote. He said $200 per car. Full interior, full exterior, complete engine bay cleaning, tire dressing, clean and dress all rubber molding AND headlight restoration.
My comment was "are you shitting me"? He said "nope, that's what I charge."
If I did this myself, I'd probably pay more than that just in buying the materials needed.
This fella seems like the nicest guy in the world too.
I booked two appointments.

(55,494 posts)I pretty much use my car as a ranch vehicle plus hauling around several dogs for years. guy took all morning said it was probably one of the worst he had ever done.
I had spend several days on it before he saw it.
