Neither one worked; the second one was in a foreign country, and I shipped out before the training was finished. I sincerely hope the company got what it paid for, and PAID for what it got.

The company I worked for had a program where if they asked someone to train someone else, that person was bumped to a 'supervisory' position and given a pay bump for the time they were doing the training. When I was going to leave, they told me that I had to train my replacement. I asked them about the usual bump. They replied that it did not apply, as I was technically not an 'employee' during this replacement training but was a 'independent contractor' who they were going to pay my normal two-week salary as a payment for the two week run. I laughed and turned to leave. "Wait! Where are you going?" I turned and said, "If I am not an employee, then I am not bound by the usual courtesies that such a thing might normally entail. Since I am an I.C., I can just leave. I will forfeit my last paycheck but I will be working somewhere else by the end of the week, so that won't be bad." And, I left.

I hate corporate bullshit. Especially when one was getting treated as a 'company baby' when they found out I was decent with electronics and needed stuff fixed. That extra stuff they got for free. That did not even come up when I left. The f***kers.

(And yes, the person was a potted Fern.)
