1. Both are login/identity verification providers for SS and Medicare

I started with ID.me but switched to login.gov. I like that one better and the user interface is much more graceful. Hope this helps.

2. I use login.gov, its easy. Id.me is a private company i dont trust

Login to your ssa.gov account and it will ask you if you want to link to your login.gov, or create an account if you dont have one.

There are a few steps involved, but they arent hard. And once you have a login.gov account you can use it for tsa precheck, global entry, and other govt services.

4. Hi XanaDUer. I had my bank account hacked. So I had to set up a new account. Contacted my pension plan and SS office.

Unless you have at least of hour of your time to burn) I asked her about that. and she told me I didn't have to do that as I have been on SS since 1998. Two years on SSDI and when I hit 65 they moved me to regular SS. I was told it would NOT be receive a call or email. I would receive a letter. I was told it was for newer members just going on SS. I hope this helps. From experience they will not call or email you. PS I hope you are feeling better. Love, Debbie

Works well for me. It's more direct to me where ID.me is a 2d party provider.
