Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsUpdate on Rich. We just got back from Rich receiving his forth radiation treatment. It was crazy at first because they
did a dry run, and his bladder wasn't full enough--go home. Merilax didn't work---go home. His PSA has dropped to 0.06. which is great news. Thank you everyone for keeping us in your prayers and vibes.

(6,847 posts)Yes, the bladder has to be full to assist in the targeting of the "Truebeam." Forty treatments with NO side-effects. Thirty-five to clean up the margins of the prostatectomy.
Then, five treatments for recurring spots that were detected after a rising PSA (stayed down to ZERO for four years). A new PET scan specific to Prostate Cancer cells allows them to target SPECIFIC spots again.
Stay with it. I am now comfortable with the realization that someday I will die with prostate cancer in my body, BUT NOT OF PROSTATE CANCER.

.. Sounds like today was very encouraging! Is he tired from the radiation? Hows he handling it? I had it too for breast cancer but it didnt affect me too much.

(1,212 posts)I know how you feel. My Dad has stage 4 prostate cancer (it came back after laying dormant for 25 years) and well....it can be very depressing at times as my Mom has congestive heart failure. But there's always hope and we take it one day at a time. Bless you and yours.

(24,011 posts)and that I hope that the end is in sight for your treatments and that you can catch a break from it all, and recover/catch your breath.
And you, you take care of yourself too. You don't want the stress to get too much, perhaps call a friend, chill out, etc., if easy to do. I know that it's probably hard to chill out, but for your physical and mental state, perhaps that would be a good thing.
Keep the good news coming, we're all rooting for the two of you.

(35,151 posts)and he didn't have enough water in his bladder. I think both of us were losing it. But I will be here for him as I love him dearly. TY for your post.
