...we had a golden mix and a springer spaniel with him as play mates. The Golden and the Springer escaped the fenced yard one day and we never saw them again ...as ( we found out years later) the neighbor about a mile away shot and killed them. My afghan hound and would sit in the backyard and stare out into the 5 acres of pasture..It was so sad on so many levels. We brought home another Golden for him to play with.....but still, once in awhile..he would just sit outside and stare..

But other than that very sad time with my dog, Baka was more like a cat in many ways..aloof.

We found him at the city dog pound. He had an amputated right rear leg. I’m not sure how he came to be there. But whoever had him I could tell originally trained him as a show dog. Every command he would take with his head held high and not move until you released him. Give him a bath and would stand absolutely frozen with his nose in the air. He had a routine when he entered the room. He would go up to everyone there, lay his head on your lap to be petted, and then walk over to his corner to lay down. I couldn’t believe how fast he was. He would run and find stuff to zig zag around at the last minute. He was protective, but had control. We heard him barking outside. Looked through the window. A teenager had jumped the fence, without hurting the kid, he had him down on the ground, standing over him growling while looking at him then lifting his head to look at the house and bark. Didn’t bite him but sounded like he knocked the teen over.
