....my heart breaks for those older animal companions who have suddenly lost their human partners after settling into years of warm and safe family life, only to be thrown into a strange, new, entirely unfamiliar and sometimes dangerous world later in their own life.

were saying, "Oh this one is only $10.00 because he is sixteen. Of course when they said that,I knew I had to take him. His mom died and his dad was going into a care home for seniors.

So I had Duke for about a year when his dementia was so bad he was getting lost in the house. But he had a nice last year and I was happy to have him.

Think. Again.

Sometimes people seem to overlook that animals also have emotional capabilities and do suffer from grief, loss, fear, even joy, just as we do.

Had him 8 years. It took a while for him to accept us but after that he was the best cat. I still miss him. Adopt an older cat if you want one who's calmer. Kittens climb everything.
