Is this what interior design is now.

This was on Dateline. Nicolle was interviewing Aisha Mills a Democratic Strategist in her home.

That's steel beams or wood made to look like steel beams in her living room. Crazy!

In case anyone can view todays Dateline this shot is just before the 12 minute mark in the show.

I have an industrial look lamp and coffee table that are really pretty and striking.

Copper looking metal base with glass top coffee table.
Pole lamp with cement base and black iron piping.

May not sound striking but they are really lovely.

Although when I've seen metal beams used it's usually in a large, converted warehouse type of setting.

I guess you had to see the whole picture. The rest of the living room had a nice contemporary look and a regular set of stairs. Not at all industrial.

I have soft contemporary, boho, modern farmhouse, with industrial pieces.
Sounds crazy but they are all clean, soft lines in off white, beige, gray, and blue.
Lots of texture. With striking wall prints.

Took me awhile to put it all together, I take my time and like to find good deals.

When I sold my last house the buyers insisted I must have had it staged
before I sold, I said no, I live like this every day. I did it by myself.

Yes I would like to see the whole picture, I just saw a part of it.

And this looks like an earthquake retrofit to my eye. The beams are designed to hold up the floor and other critical pieces in the event that the load-bearing-walls collapse in a quake.

Seismic Retrofit would be my guess, though a better picture would be nice.

My wife has had offices like that too.

It's handy for decorating -- you can hang notes, art, lights, and houseplants up using magnets!
