Goodbye to you, my trusted friend
We've known each other since we were nine or ten
Together we've climbed hills and trees
Learned of love and ABCs
Skinned our hearts and skinned our knees
Goodbye my friend, it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
Pretty girls are everywhere
Think of me and I'll be the
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we climbed
Were just seasons out of time
Goodbye papa, please pray for me
I was the black sheep of the family
You tried to teach me right from wrong
Too much wine and too much song
Wonder how I got along
Goodbye papa, it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
Little children everywhere
When you see them, I'll be there
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the wine and the song
Like the seasons, have all gone
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the wine and the song
Like the seasons, have all gone
Goodbye Michelle, my little one
You gave me love and helped me find the sun
And every time that I was down
You would always come around
And get my feet back on the ground
Goodbye Michelle, it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
With the flowers everywhere
I wish that we could both be there
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the stars we could reach
Were just starfish on the beach
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the stars we could reach
Were just starfish on the beach
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the wine and the song
Like the seasons, have all gone
All our lives we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we climbed
Were just seasons out of time

(8,912 posts)I know that it a cover song by Terry Jacks/ The Poppy Family, I'm just not familiar with Belgian songs.

(15,562 posts)But it's at most a melancholy remembrance of joy. I was being silly.
It's like asking for a song about people getting together for a meal and choosing, "Timothy," by the Buoys.

(68,460 posts)I think in 1974.
They played the big fieldhouse in the city where I grew up. I think it holds 5 to 6 thousand people with seats on the basketball courts.
Because of my dad's friendly relationship with the promoter, we had backstage passes & first row seats.
So, we saw them close up during the show & got to meet them. They were super nice guys, especially Floyd & Jimmy.

(2,178 posts)God, I love that old song from the 1930s. It used to be the theme song for the Democratic Party and you would hear it every four years during coverage of the Democratic Convention. Why do we never hear it any more at the Democratic Convention? I wish they would bring it back. It should ALWAYS be part of our convention.

(30,912 posts)music hasn't aged well. But it would be a great song to play. With didn't singers singing the lyrics and different instruments playing in the background. JMO. But the song does fit the fellings.

My feelings are more
Than I can let by
Or not
More than you've got
Just follow the day
Follow the day and reach for the sun!
You don't see me flyin to the red
One more you're done
Just follow the seasons and find the time
Reach for the bright side
You don't see me flyin to the red
One more you're nuts
Just follow the day
Follow the day and reach for the sun
Just follow the day
Follow the day and reach for the sun!
You don't see me flyin to the red
