Kevin Sullivan, known for his time with World Championship Wrestling, dead at 74

WGHP) – Kevin Sullivan, a professional wrestler best known for his time with World Championship Wrestling, has died at the age of 74, World Wrestling Entertainment reported Friday morning.

Sullivan, also known for a time as The Taskmaster, frequently played the heel against such wrestlers as Hulk Hogan, Dusty Rhodes and Chris Benoit. He was also a WCW World Tag Team Champion.

“He specialized in leading dangerous factions, which included his wicked Army of Darkness, collegiate bullies The Varsity Club, and the wild Dungeon of Doom, which introduced Big Show to the wrestling world,” the WWE wrote in its announcement. “The onetime ‘Taskmaster’ also became a creative force behind the scenes for WCW.

5. I saw the bad news about Kevin on Bill Apter's YouTube channel this morning.

I know Kevin wrestled in a lot of different territories but since I'm from Georgia, I mainly remember him from Georgia Championship Wrestling at a time when he, Buzz Sawyer, and Ron Bass were the top heels in the territory. RIP, Kevin!

8. I Remember Him From Georgia Championship Wrestling In The 80s

I saw an episode of Tales From The Territories recently where they covered the Florida territory.
Sullivan was huge there & they took kayfabe to a new level. They even went to the supermarket together dressed in the ring costumes, to carry the "cult" bit to the extreme.
He was involved in a bad accident some years back & never completely recovered.
