(119,262 posts)Chunks of some unidentified meat, allegedly beef but could have been road kill for all we knew, in slimy gravy with little globs of fat in it, served over reconstituted mashed potatoes.

(3,233 posts)Bought to go with my brown bag lunch. Boring! Peanut butter and strawberry jam, bologna and 'merican cheese, or tuna. Plus an apple, orange or banana. Repeat.

(29,549 posts)Many kids hated Spanish rice which was a lump of stuff. I even like that.
But I think Salisbury steak ( as stated above) was the very least popular and my least liked.

(68,460 posts)Went to a Catholic grade school with no cafeteria. All brown bag, (lunchboxes when I was littler) except for "hot dog day" which was 2 or 3 times each year.
In HS, I went to a private school yhat had a really good cafeteria. All the food there was pretty good.
In undergrad, same thing. Really good cafeteria. My wife went to a different college at the time, but the same company ran their food service, too. She said the food there was really good, as well.
In the HS cafeteria, they made fresh homemade donuts every morning, but you had to be at least a junior to go in there before schools. We couldn't wait until we could go in there for those donuts!

(11,455 posts)It didn't take long for us kids to figure out that it was leftover hamburgers from the previous day's lunch covered in gravy.
I actually liked the school's pizza (so did most of our class), which looked like a potholder, but tasted quite good.

(517 posts)It was fatty hamburger over rice swimming in pinkish colored sauce. It was so bad I started bringing my lunch from home on those days it was served. This embarrassed my friends to death, but I didnt care. At least I didnt have to eat that stuff!
