The DU Lounge

My wifes flight from Boston to Amsterdam was canceled. She had to leave on an earlier flight, which means she has a five hour layover in Amsterdam, after a seven hour overnight flight, for the 35 minute connecting flight to Düsseldorf. Meanwhile, I have been sitting here at Logan airport since 2:30. My flight to Chicago was scheduled to leave at 3:55. It is now 6:30, and my flight has been pushed back for the fourth time to 8:00 PMso far. This for a flight that takes two and a half hours.
Been away so long I hardly knew the place! Honey, disconnect the phone
.
Hope you enjoyed the vacay; assume you did (actually been thinking of y'all!)
Leaving was VERY difficult yesterday.
Im slowly starting to understand why people retire.

(55,941 posts)Still, Id rather listen to and watch the rain in Truro than wait in a noisy (screaming, bored kids, with nothing to do) airport lounge in Boston.

(55,941 posts)Almost 9 PM and still in the waiting area in Boston. Well be between five and a half and six hours late. We could have left three hours ago, but Delta is missing a flight attendant.
I get the rules about timing out, and all, but this is a major international airport, and a major airline cant find one flight attendant? I think I had better take another look at the plane, just in case a wing is missing.

(55,941 posts)I dont think I have any more flights with them until December. This was so awful, I thought I was on American again.
At least their lounge in Boston had great food, even though I was not supposed to be let in. The woman at their club lounge took pity on me due to the long delay, plus she broke out into a big smile when I noticed her accent, and started speaking Spanish with her (she was from the Dominican Republic). It makes such a difference. Saturday morning, in Boston, my wife bought a woven basket at the open air market near Long Wharf. The saleswoman had an accent, so I asked her where she was from. She said Kenya. So, I said, Jambo! Mimi nejué Kiswahili kidogo. (Hi there, I speak a little Swahili). In reality, I dont, but even that one phrase is way more than the average American on the street is likely to know, so we got a big smile there, too.
