This is my Sunday morning, so far

I suddenly remember, AGAIN, that I never received my renewed drivers license that I requested on line and there's a primary coming up. I have the renewal confirmation but wasn't sure if the poll workers would accept that. I drove to the nearest Sec of State Kiosk, which isn't that far but driving can be an anxiety trigger for me. That's taken care of but I noticed the 'temporary' license expires in TWO YEARS!?! Hopefully it won't take that long to get a new license,. Now I will get everything collected for the Enhanced/Veteran's license designation. They do ask for a whole lot of stuff.

Then I noticed my replacement DD-214 that I requested was ready for download. That's my official 'honorable discharge' paper to use for any veteran stuff. Got it downloaded but then it REQUESTED A PASSWORD to open! WHAT PASSWORD! OK, it would have helped if I read the whole email because it contained my ID/password so now it's downloaded, printed and scanned, for posterity.

Tried to slip Carys a flea pill in her food, thinking if I didn't crush it, she wouldn't maybe smell it? She ate everything but the pill. So I crushed it up and mixed it in with a dab of the pate I feed the ferals. She LOVES that stuff and gobbled it right down. Also bought some calming spray to try using on her. Well, and on Gryff. That boy is far too enthusiastic with his affection.

And I'm still not hungry but will force myself to eat.

You, Carys, and Gryff take a deep breath. If I could I would send you a Tibetan singing bowl 🥣.

Dew point 63 and humidity at 57. I think I'll be turning on the AC and trying to catch up on sleep.

Tomorrow I can combine early voting with a stop at Kroger, which is right across the street from the early voting location.

4. For that drivers license renewal, be thankful you don't live in Texas.

A new law requires we us to present, in person, a birth certificate or US Passport to prove we’re US citizens. Our DD-214 is not good enough.

It’s part of the GOP voter suppression efforts as our drivers license is our ID to vote.

Without any evidence, the GOP believes illegal immigrants (meaning brown skin people) are voting.

Your Sunday morning could be worse if you woke up in Redneckistan.

I'm still not 100% confident they are going to accept this 'temporary' paperwork but I do still have my renewal confirmation number and expired license so that SHOULD suffice. The BIG race, here, is who will be on November's ballot to replace Congressman Dan Kildee. I still can't believe he's retiring. Hopefully he will jump back in to something local.

There really should be a national standard for what constitutes sufficient voter I.D. Have driver's licenses/state IDs have a 'valid' citizenship chip or indication.

I've always enjoyed the process of voting in person but I'm about at the point to just go full time absentee voting.

17. Absolutely agree about the need for voter I.D. standardization, especially for federal elections.

As well as more standardization of how federal elections are conducted in general.

Unfortunately, I have a feeling it would be hard to get the states to agree on what the standard should be. For example, here in Illinois, a signature is stilll all you need to confirm your identity at the polls (and having worked as an election judge in the past, I can affirm that this works just fine).

At the other extreme, I was today years old when I learned (from surfered's post in this thread) that you have to present a birth certificate or passport to confirm your citizenship in order to vote in Texas. I'm sure there are lots of variations in between as well. *sigh* Sometimes I wish the Founders hadn't given the individual states power over quite as many things as they did, but here we are.

Your lack of appetitie is concerning. Have you considered at least drinking pedialyte, gatorade, any of the electrolyte drinks to try to stay in balance? And maybe Boost or any of those (and yes, I know they are awful) liquid nutritional supplements? Please do whatever you need to do to take care of yourself, and know that your DU family is here for you.

That group is really gaining lots and lots of new members and the posts are great.

I was in the 'Pantsuits Nation' group, after the 2016 election and I'm still FB friends with a number of women from that group.
