movie Centennial on HBO now.

With Raymond Burr, Barbara Carrera, Richard Chamberlain, Robert Conrad. The economic and cultural growth of Colorado .

Miniseries adapted from James Michener's saga about American manifest destiny, embodied in the lives of Colorado settlers from the 18th to the 20th centuries.

Anyone see it? Any good? I recall enjoying the book.

It was 1970s fare, but I seem to remember it was pretty good.

It is being shown as a movie?

Wild Wild West, Baa Baa Blacksheep, Cen Cen-tennial....
And for the true fans, High Mountain Ranger, later on.

Well worth watching - I also saw it years ago, loved the early segments especially, so thanks for posting about it!

I can't remember if I read it 3 or 4 times, and then I watched the TV show when it came on.

James Michener is probably one of the most prolific writers of history (not all historically factual) in the world, and captures you by making you get involved with the characters, even though, darn it, they might die in the next few chapters.

You will start in past geological history and watch the world evolve in that part of the world.

If you have never read the book or seen the TV series, you are missing out on an incredible experience in your life.

I recommend ALL of James Mechenirs books. Please try one, prove me wrong.

I read it after I lived in Denver for a year for my first job after passing bar exam; based in Denver, visited 6? towns, informing folks about immigration law (in it's infancy.)

FIrst taste of 'tex-mex' food, too; of course, best I've had.
