................

In a leaked document, obtained by Politico, of programs and existing tax breaks Republicans are considering changing to help pay for continuing the 2017 tax cuts, making all scholarships and fellowships taxable income stands out as a proposal that would immediately make college more expensive for the millions of students who receive grants and scholarships to help pay their tuition and fees.

If enacted, the change would make it more expensive to become a teacher, nurse, doctor, social worker or any of the other essential jobs where a college education is required
. Tuition is expensive and students are constantly told that one way they can help make it less expensive is to get good grades so they can win a scholarship..................

7. Yes, and the purpose of a scholarship is to honor given students-generally of offset tuition.

Did any of them have to get loans, sponsorships, grants or scholarships?
Or were they all so rich that school fees and housing were given to them (a form of scholarship, but funded by their parents)?
Can any of them see beyond their own noses?

I saw a few things about Hegseth so checked out Wiki.

Father was a high-school basketball coach--a high-roller, for sure, pulling in that high 6-figure income. His Mother? No job mentioned.

Public school class valedictorian. BA/apparently poli sci, Princeton. Masters/public policy from Kennedy School/Harvard University.

Wiki didn't mention scholarships, but that's a granularity I wouldn't expect of Wiki barring some reason for somebody's insisting that it be included.

Republicans don’t like smart, educated people taking a close look at what they’re doing. Too often for their liking, that leads to them being either voted out of office or under indictment.
