French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday accused Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of social media platform X, of intervening in elections, including Germany's snap legislative polls next month.
"Ten years ago, who could have imagined it if we had been told that the owner of one of the largest social networks in the world would support a new international reactionary movement and intervene directly in elections, including in Germany," Macron said in a speech to French ambassadors, while also saying US president-elect Donald Trump "knows he has a strong ally in France".

Elon Musk is putting his nose in foreign politics yet again, but this time he's setting a target on MP Nigel Farage, leader of the U.K.'s far-right Reform Party.
"The Reform Party needs a new leader. Farage doesn't have what it takes," Musk wrote in a post on X Sunday.
Farage, a key figure in Brexit, shared the post, commenting, "Well, this is a surprise."
"Elon is a remarkable individual but on this I'm afraid I disagree," Farage continued.
"My view remains that Tommy Robinson is not right for Reform and I never sell out my principles."

(2,863 posts)I saw on a TikTok, and nowhere else*, that France knows Musk interfered in their elections, and that France would seize Musk's assets. Which might actually happen, since French don't fuck around with felons, like we do over here stateside.
*not that I've looked or searched for that information, anywhere, at all.
