From The Intercept: "In 1980, white people accounted for about 80 percent of the U.S. population. In 2024, white people account for about 58 percent of the U.S. population. Trump appeals to white people gripped by demographic hysteria. Especially older white people who grew up when white people represented a much larger share of the population. They fear becoming a minority."

"While the Census Bureau says there are still 195 million white people in America and that they are still the majority, the white population actually declined slightly in 2023, and experts believe that they will become a minority sometime between 2040 and 2050."

"Every component of the Trump-Republican agenda flows from these demographic fears. The Trump phenomenon and the surge of right-wing extremism in America was never about economic anxiety, as too many political reporters claimed during the 2016 presidential campaign.  It was, and still is, about race and racism."

the results might have been different this time.

Ever since the election (and RE-election of Barack Obama), I really thought we’d turned the page. And same thing when Hillary Clinton actually won the popular vote. I really and truly did.

Silly me.

When Trump was executing the "take their children away" policy at the border. This was not a side effect of the policy. It was the point. The point is to be cruel. And the majority of the country decided they want to be cruel.

PETE DOMINICK, COMEDIAN: I am having such a hard time trying to understand so many of the arguments, but I firmly believe, given the outcome, that it wasn't the candidate and it wasn't the policies.
[22:20:13]
Sadly, that many more people like this disgusting, horrible, horrible man. And he's popular. People like what he has done. People like how he behaves.
They appreciate and root for his cruelty.
And I just had dinner with my 19-year-old daughter, who I hadn't seen since the election here in the city. She's a student here. And she's terrified. And I didn't even recognize her because she's been crying so much and she posted tonight. She said, as a woman, I'm terrified.
This election was a harsh reminder that a woman could be everything she needs to be, but it's still not enough. She said the majority of this country has chosen hate over humanity. It was a stark choice. It was a stark choice in 2016. I was on The Apprentice in 2004 and had the opportunity to meet Donald Trump and I said, I don't want to meet that guy. He's a horrible guy. He's always been a horrible person and people like that.
This is who we are. I think it's really important to be honest about who too many of us are, too many of us.

Speaking of bullies, here's info about Scott Jennings:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Jennings

Notice how CNN labels the 2nd tweeted video:
"Blame Game: Scapegoating Erupt Among Dems After Loss"
Scott Jennings is not a Democrat.
CNN deliberately chose to mislabel the video!
[And shouldn't it read "Scapegoating Erupts"?]

I like the one where real "kids" actually sing it; but not the other one where a deep-voiced 17 or 18 or 19--year-old (not a kid) sings it.
(That guy sounds like he's big enough to play linebacker for the 49ers)

but Jennings is such a smug a-hole that I stopped watching Abby Phillip, as he was always on her show. I like her, but she and the others, IMO, were very weak in responding to him. I realize he's on the payroll, but they never really put him on the spot.

Whatever her ratings were, they're only going to nose-dive, IMO.

Could explain why they voted for it.

Sure doesn’t appeal to me. In ANY way I can even try to imagine. I keep wanting to ask “WHAT is the appeal here? WHAT on earth makes you want to vote for it? And for fucking President of the United States??? I need it explained to me because, for the life of me, I can’t see it or understand it.
