Top Republicans disavow Trump's 'mentally disabled' attacks on Harris
(The Guardian) Senior Republicans distanced themselves Sunday from comments made by Donald Trump at campaign stops over the weekend that opponent Kamala Harris was “mentally disabled”.
Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican Senator, pushed back on Trump’s remarks, which came in what Trump himself admitted was a “dark” speech.
“I just think the better course to take is to prosecute the case that her policies are destroying the country,” Graham said on CNN. “I’m not saying she’s crazy, her policies are crazy.”
Graham’s comments came as immigration and border security remained the top domestic issue on Sunday’s political talk shows. Trump made his comments during a rally in Wisconsin on Saturday amid remarks on Harris’s actions on those issues as vice-president.

Bringing tariffs only grows the government and crushes people who can’t afford it. Yet they’re okay with that.
A rough or violent day only re-enforces police brutality. Yet they are still okay with that.

(8,830 posts)It's passing strange to me that these folks seem to continually "distance themselves" from what the man says--and obviously thinks and believes--and yet still support the orange gas bag and his attempts to yet again seize the White House despite the will of the majority of voters.
Well, given the state of the GOP and its base, maybe it's not so strange at all. Coiwardly, yes, and pathetic as well, but I suppose this is all we can expect these days from the "Party of Family Values."
