The former president told the apparently false tale at his news conference.

Journalists have speculated that former President Donald Trump in his news conference may have mistaken Willie Brown with the former California Gov. Jerry Brown, with whom he did fly on a helicopter. | Alex Brandon/AP

Former President Donald Trump’s apparently false tale of surviving a helicopter emergency landing with former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown wasn’t a one-off.

Trump, who told the story in a rambling news conference at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday, recounted it at least once before — in a 2023 book.

In either case, it’s not true. At least not according to Brown, a political icon in California who served as the Assembly Speaker for 14 years in the 1980s and 1990s.
“You would have known if I had gone down on a helicopter with Trump,” Brown told the San Francisco Chronicle. “I’ve never been on a helicopter with Trump.”

mentioning Alabama was just a goof. He could have at least just brushed it off but going back to it just showed how childish he is. It ended up that not only did he embarrassingly add a sharpie loop to a map but had a couple of his political appointees actually break rules to cover for his misstatement.

He simply can’t fathom that he’s ever wrong and more importantly that anyone sees him as having been wrong. God, could you imagine being in his inner circle and having to waste your time on stupid crap like this.

Truth is that none of us DUers have any interest in "reading" that book. It's mostly photos and I think he was selling them for some outrageous price like $100 each. Those books are probably in the cutout bins by now.

In any case, the publisher has a responsibility to check the facts before publishing anything with their name on it. We do have liability in this country whether Chump likes it or not.
