Who do voters want as Harris' running mate? One name stands out in recent polls

Miami Herald

August 02, 2024

……….
But, according to recent polling, one contender is steaming ahead of the pack: Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

In a July 29 YouGov poll, 59% of Democratic respondents said they would approve of Buttigieg being chosen as the vice presidential nominee. Out of nine Democratic officials included, he was the only one to garner a majority.
……….
In addition to his dominant approval ratings, Buttigieg also has the highest favorability rating among the top contenders, according to a July 31 YouGov/Economist poll.
……….
Among Democratic respondents, Buttigieg had an even larger lead, with 69% saying they had a favorable view. Kelly and Shapiro once again came in second and third, with 56% and 51%, respectively. Cooper garnered 31%, and Walz received 28%.

The question of who do they want is not necessarily a who will win question. Democrats will come out already, if she even picks Biden for VP. There are maybe 100,000 votes that swing everything in those swing states. They need to do whatever they can do win those people over. Time to get very tactical.

IMO Harris/Buttigieg would be such a powerful duo, they’d bring in a record turnout and potentially transform a blue wave into a blue tsunami! 🌊 🌊

You can see how well the four of them (Kamala, Doug, Chasten, and Pete) get along in this sweet zoom call during the pandemic (Kamala and Pete join at 24:18):

(Chasten butchered our guy’s hair, lol) 😆

From a recent Politico article: “‘They have a great rapport, and they recognize each other’s talents and strengths,’ said Rachel Palermo, a former who has worked for both Harris and Buttigieg.”

I believe it!

…those registered voter numbers, which are the most important for November, show high favorability numbers but almost-equally-high unfavorability numbers. Mark Kelly, by contrast, has slightly-lower favorable numbers but a lot lower unfavorables.

IMHO the unfavorability numbers in the “all registered voters” cohort is a reflection of homophobia from those deplorables who wouldn’t vote for a woman of color anyway. You can see the difference when you look at the numbers in the Democrat registered voter cohort. I think those are the numbers that matter.

I think Dems know they're both brilliant. IMO, choosing Pete would really cement the message of change for the under 50 crowd.

Stick that in your DEI-bashing pieholes, republikkkans.
