Analysts say Donald Trumps most militant fans are threatening online but quiet on the ground, a posture that could change if the November election doesnt go their way.

Donald Trump has a history of fiery calls urging supporters to rise up, and his most militant fans often have obliged. ... So it might seem counterintuitive that now, as Trump faces unprecedented legal problems and a close election in November, the nation is experiencing a lull in political unrest in fact, one of the quietest periods that extremism researchers have recorded in recent years.
Chief among the factors explaining the lack of political violence, analysts say, is a simple one: Trumps supporters believe he will win the presidency. ... Trump himself has contributed to that certainty by insisting the only way he can lose is if the other side cheats. Theres little reason for pro-Trump extremist groups or radicalized MAGA fans to demonstrate when they foresee the presumptive Republican nominee coasting to victory over President Biden in five months and positioned to enact promised retribution against his enemies in seven, political violence trackers say.
Polling shows a tight race: Trump and Biden are roughly tied among registered voters nationally, with Trump tending to hold small leads in several of the all-important battleground states that Biden won four years ago. ... But in the eyes of many Trump backers, he is almost certain to prevail if the vote is fair. Their confidence carries risk: Experts warn that should Trump lose, the gap between expectation and reality could make for a highly combustible period after the election.
Theyre assuming that Trump is going to win, and whats jazzing them up right now is, Then its going to be time for retribution, said Mary McCord, a former federal prosecutor who now leads the Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection, a Georgetown Law center focused on threats to U.S. security and democracy.

(15,681 posts)...that some of his most ardent fans will become extremely dangerous after the election, no matter which way it goes.
I will be keeping a very close eye on my own personal safety and will be very careful not to put myself into any unsafe positions with quite a few local people who know that I am not a trumper like them.

(6,757 posts)Personally, I see the results as being similar to last time, but with a little more lean toward the Biden/Harris ticket...perhaps a 10-12 million vote win.
Also I see us barley holding the Senate, but definitely holding it, and taking about 10-12 more House seats...a definite majority.
That's my worst case scenario. We hold the Presidency, and the Senate, and take the House.
But, it'll be close enough for the crybaby Republicans to light the fuse on an all-out season of riots and mayhem.
So we could see a lot of civil disobedience, and outright violence at the end of this year.
Trump and his minions will be liable for the chaos they cause if this happens.
Another list of crimes for Trump and friends to be prosecuted for in 2025.

(34,758 posts)They tell these MAGA crazies what they want to hear. Chump is not going to win, and it's possible that his loss will be so bad that he'll bring down other Repukes with him. None of the MAGA crazies are even able to contemplate what Chump is doing to them or the country. It's nuts.
