Former Republican senator from North Dakota, Ray Holmberg, signed a plea agreement with federal prosecutors for traveling to Prague with the intent of paying for sex with a minor.

It’s being reported that prosecutors are going to only ask for 3-4 years in prison on an offense that could land him a max of 30 years.

Prosecutors dismissed Holmberg’s other charge of receipt and attempted receipt of child sexual abuse material, a crime with a a mandatory 5 year sentence, in the deal.

Unacceptable!

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - Newly filed court documents show former North Dakota Sen. Ray Holmberg will plead guilty to a federal charge of traveling abroad to sexually abuse a child.

Holmberg was indicted in October with traveling to the Czech Republic several times to have sex with a child, including a 2011 trip to Prague through a program that received state funds.

He was slated to go to trial in September, but a plea deal filed Monday announced he will plead guilty to a federal charge of “certain activities relating to material constituting or containing child pornography” and “traveling, or conspiring to do so, in interstate or foreign commerce for the purpose of engaging in any sexual act”.

The charge carries a maximum punishment of 30 years in prison and $250,000 fine.

...that kind of behaviour goes way, way back. We still have so many fathers abusing their own daughters. Hundreds of years of "civilization" has not stopped many from continuing this behavior. They have gotten away with it for centuries. And even worse is the culprit projecting and blaming the other party for the heinous activity.
