Does Cannon believe Trump is guilty?

by nuketeacher
Community (This content is not subject to review by Daily Kos staff prior to publication.)

The public evidence seems unequivocal as to the Orange One’s guilt in purloining government secret documents. But, of course, the legal process must produce an actual “guilty” verdict to hold that against him.

Well, we already have one.

Having seen the evidence, she has obviously concluded that he is guilty. If she had looked at the evidence and found it deficient in any significant way, she would know that the best thing to do would be to send it to trial and make sure the trial is over before the election.

Imagine the boost Donald Trump would get from a jury of twelve true and honorable citizens who determined he was not guilty before the election. It would be the greatest campaign accomplishment ever.

He was caught red handed and there is plenty of documentary evidence,
including video, audio, and eye witness accounts.

She is a corrupt fool, but not stupid.

I’m assuming she’s going to rule Jack Smith’s appointment was “unconstitutional” very soon, as that’s the bullshit they’re currently whispering in her ears.

And yes - Leo and Chump both know what the verdict will eventually be.

I don't think Cannon is smart enough to figure this out for herself.

Russian sources disappeared after Trump declassified ex-spy’s evidence, UK court told

Haroon Siddique Legal affairs correspondent
Tue 17 Oct 2023 14.27 EDT

Snip

In his witness statement, Steele said the decision to declassify his testimony, taken on Trump’s last day in office, resulted in several Russian sources being exposed and suffering “varying consequences”.

He said: “Two of the named Russian sources have not been seen or heard of since. The publication of this document did serious damage to the US government’s Russian operations and their ability to recruit new Russian sources. The claimant’s [Trump’s] actions in this regard were truly shocking and arguably constitute one of the most egregious breaches of intelligence rules and protocol by the US government in recent times.”

Too many rich, white conservatives see him as a tool. He trades his grift to promote their extreme social agenda.

Do Americans want to tear up the Constitution and burn the whole place down?

I have a right to believe what I want. You don’t have the right to force your political/religious beliefs down my throat simply because you can buy Congress, the Supreme Court, state Attorneys Generals and Governors.

What is wrong with this picture?

Does our democracy have problems? Yes it does. So why can’t we at least attempt to fix them to benefit ALL of us?

I am sick to death of this. 🤬

9. So we're into "presumption of guilt"?

That's a fundamental bit of our democracy's judicial system. The prosecutor can have a opinion and act on it, but if the judge does that's a bad thing and if the judge expresses conviction of the defendant's guilt, she'd be removed.

The facts show Trump broke the law.

The law says Trump behaved criminally.

Team GOP, though, thinks they don’t have to abide by the same law.

But this is a reasonable assumption, especially if there are others in the background, calling the shots. If any of them thought for a minute that there was a chance he would get off, they'd jump at it to get that verdict before the election.

Personally, I've always had my doubts that Trump would go to trial and be convicted before the election. There were too many delays, including at the DOJ, for that to happen. But I don't think he's helped much by the delays. At least, I'm not really seeing it. It gives the Democrats a decided advantage with independent voters. There are a lot of voters who won't vote for Trump in the event that it turns out he's guilty, whether there's a verdict or not. And at very close observation, all of the "shifts" away from Biden that pollsters have been trumpeting are not large enough percentages to call a "shift." A 1% change, which can be the result of answers to secondary polling questions, like "how likely are you to vote in the 2024 election?" and not an actual preference, is not a shift. Someone needs to tell these millennial newscasters and journalists that.
