US speaker takes flak over 'snub' to Kenyan leader
Last edited Sat May 18, 2024, 01:44 AM - Edit history (1)
WASHINGTON: Lawmakers representing the incumbent President Joe Bidens Democratic Party accused House Speaker Mike Johnson of disrespecting Africa. These accusations were levelled on Friday, after he did not extend an invitation to Kenyan President William Ruto to address Congress during his upcoming visit to Washington.
Biden has invited the key US ally from the Africa, for a state visit next week. This is the most prestigious trip a foreign leader can pay to Washington, which includes a ceremonial welcome and formal dinner at the White House.
Leaders on state visits often address joint sessions of Congress. However, Johnson (a Republican), brushed aside an appeal for an invitation to Ruto, made by both the top Democrat and Republican, serving on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
In a letter to Johnson, 14 House Democrats told Johnson they were extremely disappointed by the decision and said The people of Kenya deserve more respect. Foreign adversaries like China, Russia and Iran are working tirelessly to subvert Americas alliances, particularly in Africa wrote the lawmakers. The lawmakers included the likes of Gregory Meeks, who is the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Speaker Eddie Haskell claimed that the House was too busy and decided it was more important to visit their sexual abusing, cult leader in court than do his day job and have the President of Kenya address a joint session of Congress.
That's why the oversight committee was in session at 8:00 PM just to allow the Green Old Deal, AKA; GOD in the house an opportunity to stir shit up instead of doing the American People's work.

I want to know if their trip to NY was paid for with tax dollars.

Are you serious??
The son of George (however, in Season 1, episode 20, Eddie gives his name as "Edward Clark Haskell, Jr.," and in Season 4 episode 26, Eddie's father introduces himself as "Frank Haskell" ) and Agnes, Eddie Haskell was the smart-mouthed best friend of Wally Cleaver. The character, played in the original series by Ken Osmond, has become a cultural reference, recognized as an archetype for insincere sycophants. Ward Cleaver once remarked that "[Eddie] is so polite, it's almost un-American."[1]
