Republicans are now just one race away from taking back the Senate
West Virginia Gov. Jim Justices Senate GOP primary win last night moves Republicans one step closer to winning control of the Senate in November.
Justices victory all but guarantees Republicans will flip the seat in the ruby-red state currently held by retiring Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin III, giving them a minimum of 50 seats after the election.
Democrats have no room for error: They are defending eight seats Republicans have a shot at winning.
That includes an open Senate seat in deep-blue Maryland, where popular former governor Larry Hogan won the Republican primary. He will face Prince Georges County Executive Angela D. Alsobrooks, who won the Democratic primary last night, setting up what is expected to be a tough matchup.

(2,669 posts)The risk of a nationwide abortion ban and the other crazy crap all through project 2025 will bring a tsunami of women out to defeat rethugs everywhere all at once.
They have stated clearly what they are and ads will show it.
They want to repeal the 19th amendment. Do away with birth control. Monitor pregnant women.
A convicted felon at the top of the ticket who is a sexual assaulter (common language rapist) will push even more women away.
If this Roevember doesn't see the GOP absolutely obliterated at the ballot box, I will be shocked and very afraid because it will likely mean the end of democracy and all women's rights.

(1,303 posts)but was elected governor despite all the negative baggage regarding his financial shenanigans - especially that of being an epic deadbeat. It really doesn't matter because all you need anymore to get elected in West Virginia is having a 'R' after your name.

(9,361 posts)turn red and that West Virginians will replace a pseudo-Republican with the real deal. Thats not really news to most of us here.
The days when West Virginians would send a solid Democrat like the late Robert Bird to the US Senate appear to be over. Their loss and our loss.

(4,039 posts)* and that without him (and handing the seat to the GOP) that gave the Democrats a 2-seat deficit. But, wasn't it fun to "hate" him? Eh? Was it worth it? In the end, he was still a Democrat and he helped us to keep the Senate.
I think I'll miss having him there.
