Who will be dumb enough to become Donald Trump's vice president?
One of the biggest questions swirling around Donald Trumps reelection campaign aside from Will he or wont he be a convicted felon? and Are we really doing this again, people? is a tricky one: Who will be the former president and current criminal defendants vice presidential candidate?
That anyone would consider applying for the job is remarkable. Its like asking for volunteers to report for sticking-your-finger-in-a-light-socket duty. The position of Trumps vice president brings with it the kind of job safety only found among nervous snake handlers and crash-test dummies.
And yet, people are actually vying for the gig. A pack of them descended on South Florida this weekend to debase themselves before a twice-impeached former one-term president who demands absolute loyalty while dispensing none.
A parade of hapless souls are actually hoping to be Trump's VP pick
Among the reported contenders are billionaire North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, former GOP presidential candidate Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina and Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio.
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio who once called Trump a con artist and said that he has spent his entire career sticking it to the little guy was there as well, presumably traveling in his hermetically sealed Bubble of Hypocrisy.

J.D. Vance
Cruz because he's barely lucking out in the TX Senate race. Ted needs a boost.
Marco Rubio because Florida. I know 2 candidates from the same state. Did laws ever stop them? Will SCOTUS enforce the law? Glad we got that out of the way
J.D. Vance. Another way of getting that Senate because of Sherood Brown's re-election. OH goes (R) in presidential elections.
My money's on Marco Rubio!! Why? Because he's the perfect replacement for Mike Pence. Trump treats him badly, Little Marco. No other candidate has the same sub posture to Trump. So, there he is!

(35,886 posts)I don't want to assume that Trump is a repeat president.
However, while it may take a bit of psychic battering and self-Houdini-like manipulation to contort one's self into a suitable candidate, what are the odds that Trump would survive to the end of 2028?
Who would want to be VP--a job with virtual no responsibilities and duties? Except casting the deciding vote at times in a divided Senate and maybe changing offices and housing mid-term if something happens to the current Oval Office occupant?
It's the kind of question that sort of answers itself, if you like power, notoriety, and maybe the shot at becoming "The Decider." Or the new "Dark Brandon."
