Today's Tiedrich rant: lock him the fuck up already

yesterday, in Judge Juan Merchan’s Manhattan courtroom, Donald Trump was found in contempt of court for the TENTH TIME. let that sink in. ten gag order violations. ten very real threats against witnesses, jury members, and court workers.
Donny’s penalty for all this reckless fuckery? he got a stern talking-to from the judge. can you think of any other criminal defendant who would be be shown this kind of deference, and given this many judicial mulligans? and yes, I get that all ten incidents happened before Merchan’s threat of imprisonment — but come on already. it’s time to lock Donald Trump the fuck up.

c’mon, man. stop calling jail the last step. it needs to be the next step. and who gives one shit that Donny used to be president. why does that matter?

here’s Judge Merchan’s warning to Trump:
“It appears that the $1,000 fines are not serving as a deterrent. Going forward, this court will have to consider a jail sanction,” Merchan said as he found Trump had violated the gag for a 10th time.

“Your continued willful violations of this court’s orders threaten to interfere with the ... administration of justice and constitute a direct attack on the rule of law. I cannot allow that to continue,” the judge said.
“It’s important to understand that the last thing I want to do is to put you in jail. You are a former president of the United States and possibly a future president, as well. ... There are many reasons why incarceration is truly a last step for me,” the judge said.
