NEW YORK (AP) President Donald Trumps administration this week acknowledged it made a significant error in figures it used to help justify a fraud probe into New Yorks Medicaid program, a glaring mistake that undercuts a federal campaign to tackle waste, mostly in Democratic-led states.
The error, which the administration admitted first to The Associated Press, prompted health analysts to question how many of the Republican administrations sweeping anti-fraud efforts around the country were based on faulty findings. One of a few mischaracterizations it made about New Yorks Medicaid program, it also reflected a common criticism thats been made of Trumps second administration that it tends to attack first and confirm the facts later.
These numbers could have been cleared up in a phone call, so its really slapdash, said Fiscal Policy Institute senior health policy adviser Michael Kinnucan, whose recent analysis called attention to the Trump administrations inaccurate claim.
The mistake appeared in comments made last month by Dr. Mehmet Oz, the administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, in a social media video and in a letter to New Yorks Democratic governor announcing the fraud investigation.

(13,444 posts)Corruption in the regime is running rampant. They are raiding public funds, so Democratic-controlled places must be too.
Who in their right mind would assume high costs in NY must be fraud? You'd think they might spend a millisecond comparing the cost of living or the fact the state has a minimum wage for home health aides (still too low, but undoubtedly a hell of a lot more than in states without such laws).
Not to mention taking a look at the savings and quality-of-life benefits of enabling people to remain in their homes rather than being stuck in a bed at a long-term care facility. But of course, putting money in the pockets of the good, qualified people doing a tough job, instead of the pockets of long-term care conglomerates, violates their amoral sensibilities.

(1,015 posts)and then either find something they will scream to right wing media about or if nothing is found they will minimize their correction so that there is always a louder continuing refrain about immigrants, corruption, crime, vote fraud etc etc etc because they want to cut funding for or even get rid of programs and steer the funds toward programs they can grift from. That's what DOGE was all about.
In the meantime they do nothing about social security, healthcare, education, or anything that improves America and the lives of it's citizens.

(106,280 posts)I mean, they literally have a senator whose company was convicted of health care fraud and fined a record $1.7 billion, and who pleaded the Fifth 75 times in a lawsuit about the company. They just assume everyone are lying bastards like them, and that when idiots vote them into power, they'll turn up something they can use against them.
