Department of Homeland Security warns of potential attacks amid Iran operation

The Department of Homeland Security has warned of potential lone-wolf and cyberattacks amid the ongoing strikes in Iran, according to a law enforcement bulletin obtained by ABC News.

"Although a large-scale physical attack is unlikely, Iran and its proxies probably pose a persistent threat of targeted attacks in the Homeland, and will almost certainly escalate retaliatory actions—or calls to action—if reports of the Ayatollah’s death are confirmed," according to the bulletin.

"In the short-term, we are most concerned that Iran-aligned hacktivists will conduct low-level cyber attacks against US networks, such as website defacements and distributed denial-of-service attacks,” officials said in the bulletin. The alert was issued on Saturday, a day before a gunman opened fire in Austin, Texas, and authorities are investigating whether or not the suspect was inspired by the situation overseas.

Law enforcement sources told ABC News the suspect was wearing a sweatshirt with “Property of Allah” on it and underneath, a shirt with “Iran” and the Iranian flag on it. Officials are also investigating whether the suspect had mental health issues. The bulletin said physical attacks are rare for those inspired by Iran.

Trump does not follow the law or the courts. He has obvious control over the Republican Congress and the Supreme Court.

He has a militia in place (ICE) with guns and ICE has been buying up warehouses to be used as detention centers. They will gun down people in the streets who dare to challenge him.

Most red states (like Texas) are fully supportive of him doing whatever the hell he feels like doing.

What's different between 45 and past tyrants around the world throughout history, is that this country put in place what was dubbed a "god-given right" to have a gun. As a result, there are at least 3 times the number of guns owned than the population of the country.

Right now, on this day (today) and earlier this morning, the SCOTUS heard a gun-related case on whether anyone who is "under the influence" of an "illegal substance", can be kept from owning a gun.

They would have to go against their own gun-humping base to try to remove those guns, in order to carry that out... You might recall the severe reaction when Plastered Pirro floated the idea.

And if the attempt to purge the guns does actually happen, the words of one of their own (past President of the NRA) Charlton Heston - will light up the country, along with the words of another of their own - Clint Eastwood - to dare them to do it.

It was the red states who nearly blew Pirro out of the water, and that was barely a month ago.

As a minimum, he'll clog the courts trying to contest the results.

The people (in Texas, at least) who own all the guns are mostly MAGA's. I mean, don't get me wrong. There are plenty of Liberals who are armed and trained. But the vast majority (at least down here) who have the automatic rifles tucked away with a shed in the back with about ten years' worth of ammunition are the MAGA's.

Most Liberals own "a" gun to protect themselves. But most MAGA's have an arsenal.

The MAGA's are going to be fighting alongside ICE; they aren't going to be fighting AGAINST Trump. They are all so god-damn stupid (as evidenced by their continued support of him) that they will believe whatever he tells them to believe.

and in order to execute "full control", they need to be removed from EVERYONE. And the red states are NOT going to go along with that.

They have been cosplaying in their own militias for decades but keep in mind that 45 got in through a "coalition of single-issue voters" and not all agree on the same "single issues".

The hardcore "base" amount to about 35% of the population. You see this number appear over and over and over in the polls and other surveys. It's just that they are very vocal and very very loud, but they are not the majority.

You have probably 25% who voted for him including red staters (and indies), who have gone silent, once they got negatively impacted. You have red state governors who have refused to provide voter data including Utah, West Virginia, and Oklahoma.

So they are not simply rolling over but as pure, unadulterated "opportunists", are taking advantage of the red-friendly environment to implement their own personal wishes and dreams... while they can.

It's not that I have my head in the sand but am pointing out that there are other factors out there that can change the expected or perceived outcome.

As a simple example, the state of TX is actually a "minority majority" state. And many of those "minorities" are in denial, but are learning quickly, that they are not "white". So some of them are getting restless and it will remain to be seen how people in that state react as the year goes on being under assault. As a sidenote, one of my BILs older brothers has been living down there for about 30 years and raised his kids there (although some of his kids are now here in the Philly area with their own kids going to college in the area).

Our fundamental difference is, however, that I have no inclination whatsoever that they will try to take any guns. They already know that's going to be a losing proposition. It's going to come down to who decides that they are going to take up guns, and in that situation, MAGA's have more guns and more importantly more ammunition - at least in my area of the world. MAGA's have less of a conscience, too, and they are easily manipulated.

All I really know about is Texas. I've never lived anywhere else. So, I'll talk about Texas here.

So, let's say that Trump cancels the election. The first step isn't going to be for normal citizens to immediately take to the streets and start shooting people. It will take some time. Yes, I think we would see plenty of protestors and violence, and ICE, National Guard and in my own case, local police would be trying to quell those protests because the local police are definitely ALL MAGA. They have the law on their side (or at least they'd still be insisting that they do, just like ICE does now) and they'd be using whatever force they need in order to get rid of any opposition.

People would be arrested at the protests, or else killed. Any arrested would be housed in the detention centers that are being prepared. The violence would be used to convince all of the MAGA's that the protestors are coming for them next, and the MAGA's would take up the fight. Ala - 'you better lock your doors because these paid protestors are coming after you next!"

Congress isn't going to do anything, obviously, and the Supreme Court isn't going to do anything - so WHO IS???? You think Greg Abbott is going to stand up to Trump? Pfffft! You think Gavin Newsom can invade Texas and save a red state??? I mean, what exactly do you think we could count on? Who's going to make sure that we have an election if Trump says we aren't? And who's going to make sure it's a fair election?

Texas may be a "minority majority", but it always has been. The minorities voted for Trump last time. They (as a whole because individuals differ, obviously) have been convinced that their very bread and butter depends on it because many of them listen to their rich bosses and vote accordingly. They are made to fear for their jobs and being able to provide for their families. Texas is not logical and data driven. They want you to THINK that it is, but it isn't. It is very muchly ruled by the "ruling class". We don't have big unions down here defending someone who flips Trump the bird.

As an example, the Republicans desperately want Crockett to win the nomination because they KNOW that most of the people in Texas - minority or not - are NOT going to vote for a Black woman. Now, that's not me, so don't start accusing me of racism. But that IS how things work down here. You can get these people all riled up all that you want, and you can show me poll after poll after poll. But I would believe it only if it were to happen and it's not going to. The safe route (think what you will) is for Talarico to win and keep the excitement going through the General and HOPE that the Crockett voters understanding things well enough to all come out and support him. Again - not my thinking; just the reality that IS Texas.

So, let's say that Trump cancels the election.

Ironically, the one thing that the SCOTUS has so far been pretty consistent with is "states rights". "Canceling elections" would be struck down just like those tariffs were struck down.

Using a "national emergency" where none existed, to justify those tariffs is what caused the SCOTUS to strike them down and would most likely result in the same result with any bogus "national emergency" before an election. The U.S. has been voting through literal declared wars (including the Civil War, which took place on American soil) for centuries.

You are describing a "worst case scenario" and although I am also one to consider that, having monitored and posted so much news about what they have and have not pursued to the SCOTUS, there are many many times when they have backed off (it just happened today with their idiocy going after those law firms).

What they probably will do is a billion "challenges" in court. What that would then do is effectively the same thing as a near "cancel" - it delays the results and possibly the seating of any new members of Congress in those challenged districts.

Personally, I don't think TX is ready for a (D) Senator and it's going to come down to the criminal Paxton and the Tim Scott act-alike Hunt. And just like they did in SC, they might just pick Hunt over Cornyn and Paxton, hoping to grab some minority votes. I think Cornyn might be toast.

I think if TX had put in term limits for governors like other states, things would be different. But with Abbott there, he has entrenched the ugly. Almost ALL of the U.S.-based news sources are "compromised" for one reason or another and that only leaves some of the foreign sources like "The Guardian" that I sub to and maybe BBC (but foreign sources also spend more time on reports for their home countries too). Other than that, you might be stuck with "social media" reports and I have no accounts on ANY of them but if they let me read their contents through a webpage, then I will look at them and post contents from them if relevant (and often they are cited and linked to in the news articles).
