Trump confirms he will not attend Super Bowl because of music acts: 'I'm anti-them'

Source: The Independent

Saturday 24 January 2026 10:41 EST

President Donald Trump said he will skip this year’s Super Bowl, using the decision to sharply criticize the NFL’s choice of entertainers, opening act Green Day and halftime performer Bad Bunny, both of whom have publicly opposed the president’s agenda.

In an Oval Office interview with the New York Post published Saturday, Trump, 79, called the lineup “a terrible choice” for the February showdown in San Francisco.

“I’m anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible,” Trump said.

Trump added, however, that the performers themselves are not the reason he plans to skip the game, citing travel concerns instead. “It’s just too far away. I would. I’ve gotten great hands for the Super Bowl, they like me,” Trump said. “I would go if, you know, it was a little bit shorter.”

Sat Jan 24, 2026, 08:35 PM

A) The POTUS thinks California is too far away, and can't manage an itinerary that makes productive stops along the way.

B) The POTUS thinks the purpose of the Super Bowl is for the glorification of the President.

C) This person thinks people will cheer him, and if they won't, then he isn't going.

D) This person thinks that the President should choose the entertainment for the halftime show. This ain't the Kennedy Center.

E) It may not be abnormal for racist Trump to be anti-Bad Bunny, and his fondest dream is probably for ICE agents to storm the field and take out "that 'illegal' from socialist Puerto Rico". But what is his problem with Green Day, who are "real Americans"?

I'm certain that the TEAMS don't want him there, the PERFORMERS don't give a rat's ass, and most of the FANS in the stadium would have boo'd him if he showed up. That's what happened last year ... and way more people hate him this year.

The Bay Area HATES Trump. As a SFBA resident, I know that. Very few Trump banners around here. We had one guy in our neighborhood before the election who started flying a Trump flag, but then stopped a couple of months before the election. I'd like to think he got sick of Trump.

As far as the Super Bowl goes, Trump would get booed mercilessly. And he had made it clear he didn't like Bad Bunny. I don't know Green Day's politics or their music, but I kind of wish it was the Dropkick Murphys. Maybe next year.

Fat Donny is creating an issue where none exists, to distract from the Epstein files and to try to influence culture to fit his narrow view of what's acceptable.

Expect an EO about what music is permitted at the half time show.

Headline: Trump confirms he will not attend Super Bowl because of music acts

Article: Trump added, however, that the performers themselves are not the reason he plans to skip the game, citing travel concerns instead. “It’s just too far away. I would. I’ve gotten great hands for the Super Bowl, they like me,” Trump said. “I would go if, you know, it was a little bit shorter.”

Inexcusable from the Independent.
