House Democrat: 'Pretty clear' Trump 'wants his own domestic police force'

Rep. Adam Smith (D-Wash.) said Tuesday it is “pretty clear” President Trump “wants his own domestic police force” after the president took control of the District of Columbia’s Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

“Look, this president is trampling on basic freedoms of the American people to a degree we — I don’t think we’ve ever seen,” Smith said on CNN. “You see that with what the ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] agents are doing, in terms of picking people up off the streets with no evidence, no due process, locking people up.”

“This is happening all across the country,” the Evergreen State Democrat added. “Look, it’s pretty clear the president wants his own domestic police force, and step by step, he’s trying to create it, and we should be deeply alarmed by that, regardless of how you feel about crime in Washington, D.C., or any other city.”

Trump announced Monday he was taking federal control of D.C.’s police department and deploying the National Guard in the city in an attempt to fight crime.

1. It's time to legally remove him from office.

They need to use the 25th Amendment. He's abusing the office to gain more power and it's never enough for him. If they have to say he's erratic and mentally incompetent, that might be the best bet. Democrats in the House need to start working on impeachment. Only a few Republicans might be for it, but we have to try. He's gone way too far already. All this time people have said when is he going to.be stopped. Well the time is here. We should demand it.

7. It's not going to happen until there is some event that pushes enough of the GOP over

Right now there are two types of GOP members of congress. Those that really in their hearts agree with him and those that don't but are too afraid to go against him. The first kind won't change, they are dead enders. The other kind will only change if something makes them more afraid to not do something than they are of him and his cult. In a general sense that's going to be money or freedom, there is a tipping point but sadly we aren't even close to it yet. One or two of them breaking from him won't do it, there needs to be probably 10 to 20. Once that happens the damn will burst and the others will be too afraid to not go with the crowd.
