(73,980 posts)It looks grim, Magnolia Shin said around noon Tuesday, about an hour after she left her house on Piedra Morada Drive. Shin said that she could feel the heat from the flames before she left, which were within 50 yards of her home.

People should have left their keys in the car.

(10,046 posts)It may be that a firefighter told them to abandon their cars but didn't tell them to leave their keys.
Someone is going to get in trouble.

A relative close to me knows someone who escaped like on the last truck out of some horrific California fire ?15 yrs ago, or so!
For a sec since I'd never heard the geographical name before for that place; I thought it was "our" Palisades; that is a rocky Palisades on the Hudson River's western side in NJ, and NYS (just west of NYC).
Just a nano second bc I didn't smell any smoke which I would have! Not that far away- ?2 miles.
