‘It’s like an inferno’ Pacific Palisades fire explodes as thousands of residents flee

Firefighters are battling a 200-acre brush fire that broke out near Piedra Morada Drive in the Pacific Palisades on Tuesday morning.

The fire, which started around 10:30 a.m., is threatening several homes in the area, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.

The blaze grew quickly Tuesday, spotting across Palisades Drive and prompting evacuations...................

“It looks grim,” Magnolia Shin said around noon Tuesday, about an hour after she left her house on Piedra Morada Drive. Shin said that she could feel the heat from the flames before she left, which were within 50 yards of her home.

Then, a few months later, that big 6.6 Sylmar Quake in '71. Yeah, fire or quakes, I remember them well.

Be safe, Richard D. Keep your roof wet if ya can. Those live ashes can travel far on the Santa Anna's

Drivers along Sunset Boulevard, near the Pacific Coast Highway, were being told by firefighters to get out of their cars to flee the Palisades Fire as it quickly exploded in size. The coastal highway was completely shut down in the Malibu area as people fled the growing flames.

It may be that a firefighter told them to abandon their cars but didn't tell them to leave their keys.

Someone is going to get in trouble.

LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – CalFire, the California Department of Forestry & Fire Prevention, is offering the public an interactive, three-dimensional view of the Palisades Fire in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles.

The map shows the active wildfire perimeter and the areas under mandatory evacuation orders and warnings.

Users can also pan and zoom the map to see the location of the fire in relation to other areas of Los Angeles, including Santa Monica, Malibu and the San Fernando Valley.

30, 000 evacs!

A relative close to me knows someone who escaped like on the last truck out of some horrific California fire ?15 yrs ago, or so!

For a sec since I'd never heard the geographical name before for that place; I thought it was "our" Palisades; that is a rocky Palisades on the Hudson River's western side in NJ, and NYS (just west of NYC).
Just a nano second bc I didn't smell any smoke which I would have! Not that far away- ?2 miles.

300 semi-ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients being evacuated from threatened convalescent hospital in Pasadena

I retired from one of the local TV stations. Several of my friends are out there right now. They are professionals who know how to stay safe, but it's still scary.
