Trump Backtracks On Campaign Pledge To Bring Down Grocery Prices

Source: Huff Post/MSN

12h
President-elect Donald Trump admitted in an interview with Time magazine that it will be difficult for him to reduce consumer prices, contrary to statements he made on the campaign trail this year.

"It's hard to bring things down once they're up," Trump told Time in an hourlong interview for its "Person of the Year" feature. "You know, it's very hard."

...

"We will end inflation and make America affordable again, and we're going to get the prices down, we have to get them down," Trump said at a rally in September. "It's too much. Groceries, cars, everything. We're going to get the prices down."

...

Trump also specifically promised to get gas prices down: "I will cut your energy prices in half within 12 months."

There are many more ludicrous claims he's made about prices in the article.

Trump never outlined a clear plan to reduce prices. His signature economic policy proposal during the campaign was to impose tariffs ... something economists said was more likely to spike prices...

“I can’t guarantee anything. I can’t guarantee tomorrow,” he told NBC News’ Kristen Welker on “Meet The Press” on Sunday.

Similar backtracking on his promises that tariffs wouldn't boost prices...

I’ve seen it all too often

Head turned to the side
Chin stuck out
Lips pursed together
Furrowed brow

Translation:
“I have no idea what’s being said,
I don’t know. I don’t care.
But I like the way this makes me look”

To be clear, there are no thought-processes in that reptilian brain of his. He’s just posing. Like a model who’s always pointing, always checking his cufflinks.

I was thinking something like:

You're a lot of woman, you know that? Yeah, wanna make 14 dollars the hard way?

I guess it's $100 now, due to inflation.

Or "I was just fucking around about grocery prices going down. Here's the deal. That steak that's priced $30.00 is yours for ONLY ONE BITCOIN"

Special deal just for you

Note: 1 BTC is $100,000 today.

No matter. I get to see that mug when I do anfy graphics editing. It hurts but I'm hoping for vibes going his way, like a concrete enema.

So much for voting for Trump because of ‘the economy.’

Trump voters got suckered once again – they’re too stupid to realize it, or too dishonest to admit it.

Of course, Djt will never admit that he was responsible for the increase because it's Biden's fault because "It's hard to bring things down once they're up,"

When you are in the grocery stores and note the prices of seasonal fresh produce are on a steady increase, be sure to find a red MAGA hat and thank them for the increase. You might also want to thank them for the declining quality of the same produce, as the longer it sits in the field unpicked, the poorer the quality will be when it reaches you.

Just a thought!

Here is a second related thought.

But if you/they don't mind doing back-breaking, dangerous work, the pay scale for migrant workers might be attractive.
https://www.ziprecruiter.com/Salaries/What-Is-the-Average-Migrant-Worker-Salary-by-State

It will be interesting to watch how quickly the jobs of migrant workers are filled by all the red hats who need a good-paying jobs.

All he has to do is claim that prices are falling just because he got elected. Just like he claimed the stock market was up, unemployment and immigration were down and the economy was the best ever during his first term. MAGA will ignore the evidence on their grocery receipts. They love to be lied to.
