Lewandowski: Bannon doesn't speak for Trump

Source: The Hill

11/06/24 11:53 PM ET

Corey Lewandowski said that Steve Bannon doesn’t speak for President-elect Trump when reacting to the former strategist’s recent remarks about the federal government.

“No one speaks for the President but the president, and what the president said and as he said it last night on the stage is that he’s going to be a president for everybody, and we’ve got an opportunity right now to unify the country to bring this country back together,” Lewandowski, a senior adviser on Trump’s 2024 campaign, said during his Wednesday appearance on NewsNation’s “Dan Abrams Live.”

Lewandowski’s response came after host Dan Abrams asked him about Bannon’s comments on Wednesday after Trump won the U.S. presidential election against Vice President Harris. Bannon went after federal agencies and MSNBC, saying they tried to “destroy this country.” “You stole the 2020 election,” Bannon said on Wednesday. “You’ve mocked and ridiculed and put people in prison and broken people’s lives because you said this thing was stolen. This entire phony thing is getting swept out. Biden’s getting swept out. Kamala Harris is getting swept out.”

“MSNBC is getting swept out,” he added. “The Justice Department [DOJ] is getting swept out. The FBI is getting swept out. You people suck, okay? And now you’re going to pay the price for trying to destroy this country.” Lewandowski said on Wednesday that he knows and respects Bannon, “but he doesn’t speak for this administration; he doesn’t speak for President Trump.”

The average working person - even those who can read - does not have time to peruse a 900+ page document, much less digest it. The old concept of K.I.S.S. is still valid.

All competing for the love of the Fuhrer, undermining each other and backbiting, engaging in endless scheming and factionalism each against all.

Expect much more. Wouldn't be surprised to see a mini night of the long knives at some point.

There are career civil servants working their butts off for years to keep our nation and its democracy working for the people. It's not always perfect and the Feds have their share of dolts and loafers as does all of the corporate world (Martini lunches and such). But largely, the Fed workers who know their jobs well and some who work long hours to finish their jobs are honest citizens holding jobs to support themselves and their families.

This Trump administration had better think twice about a sudden firing of thousands of these employees. They have families to support, mortgages to pay, food to buy and other expenses. Some are under massive pressure trying to hold it together, like my neighbor, and the stress has been taking its toll on him and his spouse. There is no telling what some people are capable of when their livelihood is threatened or taken away from them. They shouldn't go public with threatening statements like they will burn the government down or destroy it. It is surely within the power of the President and Congress to abolish certain Federal entities but in a well planned and orderly, and legal set of actions. But to talk about just wiping out Executive Agencies and functions at the whim of the fanatics Trump surrounds himself with is NOT the way to go.

If we think J6 was a brutal attack on democracy, you just don't know what a large group of white collar civil servants are able to do to the guts of Federal operations. And I am not speaking of them being violent. They are smart enough to know the risks of violence. But many of them hold the knowledge key to government operations that pay workers and contractors and even wages of Congress and other government officials. Not just about financial risks but Intel safety and security also. I am just taking a statement made by my neighbor and putting some context around it. I'll put it this way simply said. FAFO
